Wow. Extra Extra by name, and extra extra by nature.
For a pie freshly-baked in store, Asda have really gone for it good and proper with the packaging, treating us to a printed carboard box with tucked-in tabs, embellished with festive motifs, and a prettily shaped window.
The pies are just lovely. Really deep, rich gold pastry and overall, big and bold in appearance. Icing sugar gives a festive coating, and the pastry is buttery, and really tasty with its hint of citrus peel. The mincemeat is of real quality, with a gorgeous deep flavour, and a proper kick of festive spirit. Sweet, but not syrupy.
And look at that depth.
And the final bonus? These stayed fresh and tasty for three days, which was a really pleasant surprise for an ISB pie. Excellent.
These were absolutely tremendous. The new pacesetter in 2021.
