Another from the Finest range, with the common box styling featuring the wreath-style corner. A small window, almost an afterthought, gives a part-glimpse of the contents.
Definitely in the slim category, these, and a bit uneven too. The crumble top has a decent rubbly, buttery appearance, and the icing sugar dusting resembles a rocky hill after a snow shower.
First bite reveals a lovely buttery crumble, melting in the mouth. The mincemeat is full-flavoured and boozy, well-spiced, but a little bit dry… maybe the topping absorbs some of the moisture? The shallowness means the filling is rather skimpy too. But overall, the sweetness is well-balanced with some saltiness. It’s almost biscuity, shortbread-like. Tasty.
